Job Description

Responsible for monitoring, operating and troubleshooting the packaging equipment while working efficiently and following all procedures for producing quality products according to customer specifications, as well as following safety and quality procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

Understand written and verbal instructions to complete packaging of products. Refer to “Standard Operating Procedures. Machine Priming, Basic Operating Procedures, Machine Operations, and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.

• Retrieve, dump & mix ingredients for each batch as directed per recipe & production schedule.
• Visually inspect cart of staged ingredients to ensure that the correct ingredients, lot codes on each cart match the recipe and production schedule.
• Replace & dispose any defective, damaged, crushed packaging or product.
• Follow recipe directions closely.
• Verify the lot codes of all ingredients& supplies pulled for each recipe/stage &cross reference them on the lot code documentation sheets.
• Retrieve the prepared ingredients on carts from the ingredients prep operators. Remove & replace empty carts and containers to be cleaned between batches.
• Keep work stations and areas clean through your shift. Dispose of trash.
• Safely operate the mixing equipment, conveyors, central nitrogen system.
• Must be able to physically lift, load and move 50lb ingredient bags

The maintenance tech is responsible for timely completion of routine repairs, maintenance requests, and work order throughout the facility.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, conveyor systems, production machines and wrapping machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operations; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels and straightedges.
• Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
• Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
• Must be knowledgeable and able to work on wrapping equipment with timing and programmable logic controls (PLCs).
• Needs to be familiar and able to work with packaging/wrapping, ink jet printing systems.
• Competent and familiar with working with electrical, three phase, higher voltage systems (480 volt systems).
• Possess strong diagnostic, trouble-shooting skills in order to make necessary repairs.
• Possessing refrigeration knowledge beneficial.
• Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Quality Assurance Technician

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for conducting, auditing, inspecting, testing, and supporting Michael’s Cookies Food Safety, Quality Programs and Food Manufacturing Regulations. Each technician must appropriately monitor and respond to all process operating guidelines and comply with GMP & Safety policies. This position requires both independent and collaborative participation within a department team and does not include any direct reports to manage. Individual must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, stand, sit and/or move for prolonged periods of time and lifting up to 25lbs within additional support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performing environmental sampling of equipment, drains, and raw and finished products.
• Calibration of thermometers and scales on a daily basis.
• Monitor sanitation standard operating procedures and document SSOP’s in accordance with the companies program.
• Monitoring and documenting the quality of packaging, raw materials, and finished products.
• Monitoring foreign material detection and rejection.
• Generating and completing the required records and documentation on a daily basis for each product line in accordance to the customer’s specifications.
• Perform HACCP monitoring and verification for all critical control points and quality control points of the company’s HACCP programs.
• Preforms internal audits and maintains records necessary for quality control.
• Working alongside production employees.
• Monitor and ensure food security and safety.
• Monitor product processing, consistency, and packaging integrity by conducting analytical testing, sensory, product/ingredient sampling, as well as documentation verifications for quality assurance and measurement analysis.
• Takes action on any quality noncompliance and records all results in the Quality Management System.
• Document investigations, findings, root cause analysis, and situations that occur within the shift.
• Hold product not within specification by generating hold tags and to distribute to the proper personal. Assist in the disposition of Hold Product when needed. Maintain the QA Hold system on a daily basis.
• Maintains daily retention sample procedure for finished goods item.
• Support operation on quality-related activities, such as pre-operational follow-up verifications, product start-up, and end of run verifications, and technical assistance as needed.
• Assist with routine and situational GMP/Food safety inspections, exercises, systems, and/or investigations for any quality, food safety & security concerns.
• Perform testing of raw material sampling to finish product and Sensory evaluation (cupping).
• Conduct QA line audits & GMP inspections.
• May perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
• H.S. diploma with additional specialized training where a thorough knowledge of food safety principles and HACCP was gained
• Three (3) to five (5) years experience in quality assurance in a food processing environment.
• Must possess basic math and computer skills, and be able to read and analyze process charts, graphs, and logs.
• Must possess good analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
• Must be HACCP certified, or be able to become HACCP certified.
• Must have excellent oral and written skills at a technical and general level.
• Keen observation to details with ability to effectively investigate and devise corrective actions.
• Knowledgeable with FDA inspected facility.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for general sanitation work. Sanitation cleans up after production shifts by breaking down the production equipment, scrub, scrape, wash, and sanitize. This position will work on call as needed for emergencies and perform principal responsibilities of sanitation with primary responsibility to assigned department.


Responsibilities and Duties


• Responsible for wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Perform tasks associated with general sanitation – to include: scrub, scrape, and wash equipment to perfect sanitary condition
• Break down production equipment
• Prepare machinery for next shift
• Keep plant trash removed on a timely basis
• Report and resolve food safety issues
• Be aware of your surroundings and floors may be slippery
• Follow sanitation dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene
• Follow sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs)
• Perform assignments in accordance with established GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) policies and procedures
• Perform scheduled tasks on the Master Sanitation Schedule
• Able to learn how to clean and sanitize equipment, pans, racks, molds, utensils, etc.
• Sweep, mop, clean, and sanitize floors
• Able to learn how to operate floor scrubbing equipment and pressure washer
• Participate in ongoing training sessions for the Sanitation Department
• Mandatory participation in weekly deep-cleaning operations to ensure plant is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized
• Maintain clean outside grounds and office areas
• Clean and sanitize employee restrooms and breakroom
• Clean and sanitize freezers and ovens
• Perform all work assignments for position in accordance with specifications, instructions, and requirements
• Demonstrate good verbal communication skills
• Understand the management of Quality Systems and is familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices which help ensure the safety within the workplace and the production of a safe and quality product(s)
